How’s your Easter been?

It was our 3rd session back last night and I hope you are beginning to get that “normal” feeling back, or at least can see it on the horizon. I know some of you still want to stay away from groups, or have injury/fitness concerns and due to this your coaches are happy to continue supplying solo training plans alongside the monthly group sessions. If you want anything else, support or advice perhaps, then reach out at any time.

With the government roadmap now allowing real events I have already seen some of you hitting up the races and that’s great. Please remember to let Gary Wright know your race results so that he can publish the monthly data for us:

It’s not going to be the same as previous years, but I hope to somehow get a few in the calendar that we can recognise and participate in together – I’m looking at what is local and would be happy to hear some suggestions from you all if there are any you have in mind. I know many races have been rearranged towards the end of the year, so it’s not going to suit everyone. We can only do our best. I am only looking at events after the 21st June when we should be fully out of lockdown restrictions and the likes of car-sharing etc will be possible.

Wednesday 23rd June. The Kent London Athletics Network (of which Bexley AC is a member) are hosting their annual Bromley Midsummer 10k. More details and entry can be found here:

Sunday 27th June. The North Downs 30k. I don’t know why, but the thought of 30km of rolling Kent hills shouldn’t be fun – but as well as being one of the toughest, it’s also known for being one of the most scenic off-road races in the South of England.

Sunday 8th August. The Canterbury 10k is usually early in January so will be a whole new challenge running it on a summers morning. Continuing to celebrate the Kent countryside I’d highly recommend this one.

Sunday 26th September (TBC). The Bridge 10k. A local and firm favourite for those looking at a flat, fast, PB potential course.

Keep in touch with your plans and ideas. Dust off those orange vests and I hope they still fit as you think about which event to sign up for!

Kind regards,
Paul Dallison, Road Running Secretary
