Paul Collier was the Bexley AC star performer at the Kent Vets.

Paul Hills who helped us design the new Danson XC course performed his magic to conjure up an interesting course from two fairly small fields and a bank to the side of Dartford Central Park.

First race was the men’s over 50’s. A group of 5 broke away early on. Paul Collier started steadily in around 20th place however throughout the race gradually moved through and by the end had improved to 8th. John Hunter, Kevin Winch and Chris Gosden all ran well to finish 68th, 77th and 86th respectively. Bexley were 9th team.

Next race was the combined women’s race and the over 60 men. We had a good turn out of Bexley women for this race. In the women’s over 35’s Sarah Dodds finished 44th, in the over 45’s Angela Duffy Smart had a good run finishing 37th and Paula Cooper was 50th. In the over 55’s Chris Pates was 13th and Geraldine Legon 20th.

The final race was the 40- 50 men. Simon Wells started well and managed to hang on for a very credible 19th position, we also had Jon Fish who finished 40th and Tan Truong 78th.

Next XC event is the Kent League fixture at Foots Cray Meadows on 14th December. This is for all younger age groups and senior men, no senior women. Please note there are some deadlines coming up for some of the Cross Country Championship races, namely the Kent County Champs at the (4th Jan, entry deadline 6th Dec), South of England champs (25th Jan, entry deadline 14th Dec)) and the National Cross Country at Nottingham in (22nd Feb, entry deadline 11th Jan). Please let Kevin Winch know if you wish to enter one or more of these races.
