Race Day Information

Thank you to everyone who has for entered this year’s event. Here is a reminder of some important information you will need to know on the day.

Race Day: Sunday 21st July 2019

  • Location: Danson Park, Danson Road, Bexleyheath, Kent. DA6 8HL.
  • Race HQ: Located next to the Danson Stables pub within the park.
  • Parking: There are car parks within the park (council charges £2.50 after 9am, pay cash on entrance) or parking is available on surrounding roads.

Race Times:

  • 9:30am – 3k Fun Run
  • 10:30am – Myra Garrett 10k Race

Number collection:
Race numbers can be collected from Race HQ located by the Danson Stables pub within the park. Safety pins will be provided.
Please collect your number no later than 30 minutes before your race starts.

On the day entries:
A limited number of spaces are available to purchase on the day (£15 for 10k, £5 for Fun Run).
Note that the entry desk opens at 8:45am and spaces are likely to sell out quickly.

Facilities:
Toilets are available within Danson Park. There will also be a Bag Drop area adjacent to race HQ.

Race Course:
The 3k Fun Run is 3 kilometers long and consists of 1 lap within the grounds of the park.

The 10k Race consists of a 2 lap course starting and ending within the park, with some use of local roads. Please note there are no road closures so normal Highway Code Rules apply. There will be distance markers every kilometre.

Courses are multi-terrain and not suitable for wheelchair athletes. Dogs and cycles are not permitted on the courses.

Use of headphones/earphones:
Use of headphones/earphones of any type is not permitted in either the Fun Run or 10k Race.

Water Station:
For the 10k Race there will be a single water station that is passed twice at the 3.5k and 8k points. Please note there is no water station on the 3k so please carry your own drink if required. The weather forecast is currently predicting a high of 25 degrees, so please ensure you and your family and friends stay hydrated.

Bottled water is provided to all finishers of the Fun Run and 10k.

Presentations:

  • The presentation for the Fun Run will take place at approximately 10:15am
  • The presentation for the 10k Race will take place at approximately 11:45 to midday

Awards will be presented by our guest of honour, Andy Barrow. Andy is a triple Paralympian, three-time European gold medallist and former captain of the Great Britain wheelchair rugby team. He is now an inspirational speaker, and his story captures the true spirit of sport, determination and overcoming challenges.

Results:

Results will be published on the Bexley AC website at www.bexleyac.org.uk as soon as possible after the race.

Finally – thank you for helping us in our support of Bexley Mencap. Every entry to this year’s events carries a donation to help them with their brilliant work. We’re also proud that they will have a team of runners taking part again this year.
