General Information about Tigers:-

For children 9-11 years old inclusive (normally in Year 5 & 6 at school) and some other youngsters who may be new to athletics, there is Sunday morning training from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM. This group is called THE TIGERS. The cost per session is currently £3.

The Tigers have fun and try out different aspects of athletics under the supervision of 2 qualified Coaches. When they are old enough (usually 12 years old) the Coaches will normally move them up to the next group which is Coached on a Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6:30 - 8:15 PM; here they learn more about training and competion and train differently witha view to encouraging them to become comptetitive athletes and realise thier potential in the longer term.

NOTE:- Very occasionally on a Sunday Tigers training is cancelled because an event is taking place and the track is occupied. If the Coach has your contact details they will do their utmost to contact you or tell you in advance. At the same time, however, it is suggested that you check this Bexley AC web page regularly to ensure that Tigers training is on (look on the Home page and this Tigers page and/or Stop Press).

Parents please note:- Training normally starts at 10:00 AM or very shortly afterwards, once the children have registered. Recently a number of parents are arriving very late - sometimes 10:20 or afterwards and it is extremely difficult for the Coaches, once training has started, to break off from the other children to go and register late arrivals - please try to arrive at 10:00. Similarly, Coaches are there to coach the children and do not have the time to make cups of tea for parents or serve refreshments, and certainly not once training has started. If there are any parents who wish to volunteer to do this whilst they are waiting at the track please do speak to the Coaches; volunteers are always welcome.
