Ailis McGovern Gold at Nationals and Bexley success at Kents
Ailis McGovern is now currently number 1 in the UK for the U17 Pole Vault after magnificently winning the National U17 Pole Vault at Birmingham on Sunday. There was stiff competition and Ailis had to vault a Personal Best height of 3.50m to win Gold. Ailis is Coached by Gordon Lillis and she has made rapid progress over the last 3 years to be at the top for her age group.
On the same day another of Gordon’s athletes, Charlie Jinks who has similarly made excellent progress in this event, won the Kent County Championship U17 PV at Lee Valley. Bexley AC did maginificently at these championships with excellent performances in a range of events, resulting in 17 medals including a Championship Record Performance for Farren Morgan in the U20 men 400 metres.
