Ashford – Kent Young Athletes League – Loads of newbies doing well

April 24th, 2012 Comments off

On the 15th April we competed in our first league match at the Julie Rose Stadium in Ashford. With many youngsters putting on the orange vest for the first time. Being the first event of the season and a revised league with even more teams, we expected a busy madness for the first couple of hours and we certainly got it. I’ve put the report in age group order, mentioning who competed Highlighting only very notable performances, so please don’t disappointed if I don’t go into detail – But we are all proud of you. The full results can be found at www.kcaa.org.uk/ the county web site.
Under 13’s Girls, after last year when we usually only had 1 competing, today we had 4 young ladies. Emily Johnson, Marianne Bullen, Annabel Field & Eliza Lawrence were up for anything
Under 15 Girls, this was our strongest most experienced team, Abi Alagbaiye, Katie Butterworth, Kerri Johnson, Harley Wooler, Olivia Bailey, Monika Faulkner, Eleanor Winch, Victoria Blincoe and making her debut from OZ Madeleine Vaz. Notably Joanne Okusanya (Grade 2 in the 100m in 12.98 & G3 in the Shot)
Under 13 boys, like the girls in this age group a young team Dan Walton, Jason Okusanya, Ayo Olagbaiye Robert Lawrence, Dan Walton & Ozzie Jeremy Vaz
Under 15 boys, missing a couple with injuries but Harry Jarvis, Okiki Olugunna, Luc Legon, Joshu Masters, & Cameron Lyttle( grade 3 100m in 12.00) dead. done us well.
So well done to a very young team overall (2/3 off our athletes in the lower half of their age brackets) the sprit was suburb and all those there was impressed by our team, with both our teams in div 1, the future is looking very bright but we do need everyone to compete.
